I was unable to attend any forum as my time was spent out of state, however, The Governor knows how upset Me and my Organization, The American legion, The largest Veterans' orgnization in the world, will never step back and view him with favor, as long as our Soldiers Homes are being treated with disdain in the budget process. The goal as we see it is for the Soldiers' homes in the future to be one of privacy and the closing of the outpatient clinics and Pharmacy labs are the first step. The next step is to privtize the nursing corps. The Governor and his administration will be continually held liable for the future of our Veterans health care.

I would like to address the issue of the Soldiers Homes in Chelsea and Holyoke. Many veterans pay extra to have a veterans motor vehicle license plate. Monies from those plates are to go to the Soldiers Homes. Is all of the money from the license plates that is supposed to go to those facilities going to the Soldiers Homes?

This forum was a wonderful opportunity for local citizens. The governor and his team presented very clear information about the budget and made it very clear they were open to public input and help to meet huge challenges. Unfortunately, many who spoke chose to complain, berate,or demand instead of trying to contribute. Hopefully ideas will come from future forums and emails. Thank you to the governor and team for coming.
